A man is in a critical condition after reportedly being run down in a car then attacked in Irvine.
The 42-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital following the disturbance in Sloan Avenue at around 10.20pm last night [Wednesday, July 16].
His condition is described as critical but stable.
Police Scotland confirmed a 43-year-old man has since been arrested with enquiries still ongoing into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a disturbance in Sloan Avenue, Irvine, around 10.20pm on Wednesday, July 15.
"A 42-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital Crosshouse with serious injuries.
"He is described as being in a critical but stable condition. A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection. Enquiries are ongoing."
