AN AYR mum was horrified to find rubbish including ‘drug bags’ left over from a suspected party near Greenan Castle.

Luciana Paludetto, 44, was out walking her dog when she discovered the mess and couldn’t believe what she saw.

Ayr Advertiser:

It is believed that up to 50 youths headed to the spot for a party, after seeing a post promoting the event on Facebook on Thursday, June 25.

When the group dispersed they left behind empty bottles of booze and belongings with a sandal found in amongst the mess.

Luciana told the Advertiser: “I was so shocked with how they left it. Sometimes there is a little bit of rubbish, but this was just like nothing I’ve ever seen.

“I spoke to some campers who said there were about 50 people, but the amount of alcohol I found would get 100 people well drunk.

“But it wasn’t just alcohol, there were small packets that looked like they had drugs in them. It was awful.

Ayr Advertiser:

“It was in between Greenan Castle and the car park. I also found loads of poo on the steps near the site, and tissues. People must have been using the steps as toilets it was horrible.”

Luciana was joined by four youngsters from the area, including her son who bagged up the mess.

She regularly takes part in beach clean ups, but she wanted to highlight how bad the damage was so took pictures and shared them on social media.

Luciana added: “I just hope people realise what has been happening, because we need to make people aware it’s a shocking way to behave.

“We cleaned up what we could, but left half of it. It was an impossible job.”

Ayr Advertiser:

Luciana originally from Brazil, fell in love with the beauty spot on the idyllic coastline.

She said: “We moved here from London, we live so close to Greenan Castle we see it as our extended back yard.

“We just fell in love with the area, it really breaks my heart to see it like that, this part of Ayrshire is just perfect.”

Police have urged anyone who wishes to report an incident like this to call 101 or 999 in an emergency.

South Ayrshire Council confirmed they were aware of the incident.

A Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident and will clean up the area as quickly as resources allow. Our Community Safety team is also looking into the issue.”
