New Cumnock Primary School held its first ever virtual sports day last week with kids of all ages taking part.
School staff organised the ‘Lockdown Games’ where pupils were given nine challenges to complete. All they had to do was send a photo or video in to their class teacher as evidence of participation to earn them 100 points for their House. Points were then collated to announce the winner.
Danielle McNulty, Principal Teacher, said: “We knew we couldn’t deliver sports day in the format we would have loved to so we thought about how we could get as many kids involved as possible and came up with the ‘Lockdown Games’.
“We tried to cheer kids up by making videos get that competitive nature going. They loved seeing videos of their teachers and it got them excited the day before knowing sports day was coming up so we really built the anticipation.”
