Sorn PRIMARY pupils have been receiving messages of support from Scottish celebrities on the transition to secondary school after their final months of primary were cut short due to COVID-19.

P7 pupils are being encouraged by celebrities such as golfer Catriona Matthew OBE and singer Julie Fowlis about the exciting times that lie ahead in 120 second video messages sent in by the celebs.

Health Secretary Jeane Freeman has taken time out from her daily coronavirus briefings to offer her support to local pupils along with politicians Humza Youssaf and Ruth Davidson.

Lee McPhail, Acting Head at Sorn Primary, said: “The #120second challenge was created to support our young people who will be moving from Primary 7 to S1.

“We challenged famous people on Twitter, from all walks of life, to talk about their own positive experience of moving from primary to secondary school.

“I would ask people, if they have a spare two minutes, to keep sharing their experiences with us. If we can help to reassure even just one worried young mind, the challenge will have been worthwhile.”
