The world famous Adrossan postie has handed in a whopping cheque to the Whitlees Community Centre.

Gerry Long has raised £300 whilst conducting his rounds in some of the strangest attire you’re likely to see a postman wearing.

So far he’s dressed up as various fictional characters, ranging from Scooby Doo to Batman and his wardrobe is full of many other fun outfits to entertain his customers.

After receiving donations from members of the public who were delighted at his efforts to raise spirits, Gerry decided it would be a good idea to raise money more officially for charity and for the last few weeks he has been collecting for the Whitlees Centre and the STV Appeal for children in poverty.

A spokesperson for the Whitlees Centre said: “Gerry has done a great job keeping the community smiling with his fancy dress. The donations the customers have gave Gerry for the Whitlees Community Food Hub has been amazing and has helped towards soup, sandwiches and a meal for the vulnerable.”
