A woman was arrested for alleged drink driving and other motoring offences.

The 56-year-old Cumnock woman was caught by police on Ayr road, allegedly caught under the influence, driving while disqualified and with no insurance.

The woman was arrested and charged with her scheduled to appear in court today.

A Police Spokesperson said: "A 56-year-old Cumnock woman has been arrested and will be attending court today charged with alleged drink driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without a valid policy of insurance on the A70, Ayr Road, Cumnock.

Chief Inspector Steven Meikle Area Commander for East Ayrshire said: “Road Safety continues to be a priority within East Ayrshire and across the country.

"The consequences of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol can be catastrophic and devastating.

"Officers will continue to remain visible on our roads to both prevent offences and detect any persons who commit offences of this nature.”
