A popular New Cumnock firm enjoyed a treble triumph at the 2016 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.

Pathhead Bakery, based at Waterside Industrial Estate, won a regional gold for perfect morning rolls, national silver for producing superb empire biscuits as well as special bronze for their potato scones.

Their prizes were presented by Mich Turner MBE at a glittering ceremony hosted by Scottish Bakers, the association that supports and promotes the interests of the industry across the country.

Jim McLatchie of Pathhead Bakery said: “We are extremely pleased to be recognised as one of Scotland’s best bakers.

“We take our business very seriously and use traditional methods and craftsmen’s skills to deliver quality every time.

“But we could not have come this far in the competition without our dedicated and skilled team and without the votes of all of our customers — thank you.”

Customers of the New Cumnock company were among those voting for their favourite bakery items in eight categories — morning roll, buttery, scone, potato scone, small cake, savoury, biscuit, bread and new category, scoring each on appearance, freshness, taste and value for money.
