TWO schoolgirls were taken to hospital after suspected drug taking at an Ayr school on Tuesday.

The 15-year-old’s who attend the secondary school took unwell after an incident and both were taken to Crosshouse hospital for treatment.

Emergency services were called to the school around 9am on Tuesday, March 3.

Police responded after reports of two schoolgirls had fallen unwell.

Officers then arrested and charged a male suspect in connection with the incident. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of two 15-year-old girls who had taken unwell at a secondary school in Ayr around 9am on Tuesday, 3 March 2020.

"Both girls were taken to Crosshouse Hospital and have been released.

"A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to this incident. He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday, 5 March, 2020."
