Staff and pupils from St Bridget’s Primary School in Kilbirnie received a generous £150 cheque from Newhouse Mini Market.

Staff at Newhouse took part in a raffle to raise money to help support local schools.

Rajwinder Kaur, proprietor at Newmarket, said: “It is a good way of doing something for the local community. We try to do something different ever year and this year we decided on a fun raffle.

“My son went to school at St Bridget’s so it’s a nice way to give back.”

“We want to thank our staff - Pauline Robertson, Nicola Robertson and Jacquie McGuire - and all our customers who took part in the raffle to make the donation possible.”

The school highlighted that this money will go directly into the school show fund to support the preproduction costs of the upcoming Beauty and the Beast performances.

Dennis Hopkins, headteacher at St Bridget's, said: "What a lovely surprise the pupils of St. Bridget's Primary School in Kilbirnie got last week.

"The school community send a huge thank you to our local community for their continued support, especially to the management, staff and customers of Newhouse Mini Market."
