A THRILLED mum is over the moon to have given birth on Christmas and New Years day.

Sharon and Callum Hunter welcomed baby son Ollie on New Year’s Day – he was one of the first arrivals of the new decade at the Ayrshire Maternity Unit (AMU). Bouncing into 2020, weighing 6lb 2oz, little Ollie arrived just under three weeks early.

His parents can’t believe their luck as their older son Jamie was born on Christmas Day 2014, also at the AMU. They are now settling well into life as a family of four in Darvel, East Ayrshire.

Mum Sharon said: “We cannot believe our boys have such special birthdays – we feel really fortunate. Both my husband Callum and I are very grateful to the AMU for their care on both occasions – the midwives we had on both nights were fabulous.

“Ollie’s early arrival was a bit of a surprise but we believe he knew his grandpa (my dad) was on a very special visit to Scotland, so he must have wanted to come out to meet him.

Unfortunately this is my dad’s last visit home to us as he has terminal cancer, so we are very blessed that Ollie made an early appearance to meet him.”
