EAST Ayrshire’s notorious pipe band are trying to drum up new students in Cumnock.

Budding musicians are being invited to test their talents as the iconic band begin their latest project.

Global champions EPIC are set to launch a new drumming programme in the New Year.

They are hoping to continue their unstoppable success by recruiting new members into the band.

The band will hold classes in Cumnock during the evenings.

The band is led by world champion Karen Warren, 32, who said: “EPIC East Ayrshire Pipe Band Academy are delighted to announce that they will be introducing pipe band drumming to their programme, starting in January.

“We are incredibly lucky to have been awarded huge support by Dr Guthrie’s Association, McCallum Bagpipes, and the Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust, without whom this would not have been possible.”

Project manager Paul Warren said: “We’re very excited to be starting our drumming programme at last, this is the next step towards having an EPIC Pipe Band that all our students can be part of and all our community can be proud of.

“Our huge thanks go out to the organisations that have helped support this new venture.”

Thanks to the support of funders they are able to give free loan of instruments and set tuition fees at just £25 per term for ten one-hour sessions.

Classes will take place at the Old Church Hall on Barrhill Road in Cumnock on Monday nights between 6 and 8pm.
