Labour have revealed their candidate for the December 12 general election.

Duncan Townson has been selected to represent Scottish Labour in the next general election to contest the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock seat against SNP candidate Allan Dorans and Scottish Conservative and Unionist contender Martin Dowey.

Duncan is 35 and currently resides in Ayr having previously lived in New Cumnock.

Duncan attended Cairnhill Primary school followed by Cumnock Academy and latterly Belmont Academy.

Duncan went on to study at Ayr college followed by Glasgow University, now working in Ayr as a driver.

Duncan is delighted to be standing as the Scottish Labour candidate for his area.

He said: “Labour for me is the only party that is looking at the wider issues, the people are what matter most whether it is helping people get into work, or fighting for better pay and conditions or the NHS, Labour is a party for the people led by the people.
