Police have now identified a man who was seriously injured in a car accident on the B780 between Kilbirnie and Dalry.

Officers had released CCTV images earlier today (Tuesday, November 5) in an attempt to identify the man who was hit by a car on Monday, November 4.

The man was identified within hours of the pictures being released and his family have been notified.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Thank you to everyone who shared our images and post in trying to identify the man injured in a serious road crash in Kilbirnie yesterday.

“We have confirmed the man’s identity and have notified his family. Enquiries into the incident are continuing. Once again, thank you for your assistance.”

The man was seriously injured after being knocked down at around 6.20am approximately 200 yards East of East Mains Farm.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries which were described as serious.
