North Ayrshire Athletics Club welcomed a professional athlete turned motivational speaker to share her mental health journey and inspire members.
Ayrshire runner Mary McClung gave a talk to NAAC members, parents, coaches and volunteers at the St Matthew’s Auditorium.
Mary represented Scotland and Great Britain and national and international levels but is now a certified counsellor, rational emotive behavioural therapist, cognitive behavioural therapist, executive coach and mentor.
A spokesperson from NAAC said: “A massive thank you to Mary McClung who shared her experiences and journey as a professional athlete and her sports scholarship in America to working with the Institute of Sport supporting athletes and her current role around wellness and motivation speaking to a group of club members tonight.
“She certainly helped inspire a few of our young athletes and left with our best wishes and some flowers from our friends Stems and Gems.”
