More than 250 young musicians took part at the Festival of Juvenile Solo Piping Competition in Stevenston on Saturday, October 19.

Pipers from all over the west of Scotland competed at the event at Auchenharvie Academy.

Ayrshire did particularly well, with Caledonian Piping Club, Stanley Primary School and Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums taking home a number of awards.

Gerard McClumpha, group leader at Caledonian Piping Club, said: “A very full days competition with 253 entries, including chanters, and a very high playing standard as well.”

The Ayrshire results were as follows:

10 YEARS AND UNDER CHANTER – Winner Finlay Muirhead 1st Largs BBs; Runner-Up Eilidh Dunwoodie, Stanley Primary; Third Isla Stewart, Garnock Valley P&D.

11 YEARS AND UNDER CHANTER – Winner Leesa Dunwoodie, Stanley Primary; Fourth Louise Tait, Garnock Valley P&D.

12 YEARS AND UNDER CHANTER – Runner-Up Kaya Tatar, Stanley Primary.

UNDER 14 CHANTER – Winner Cameron Smith, Caledonian Piping Club; Runner-Up Erin Cowan, Stanley Primary.

OPEN SLOW AIR CHANTER – Runner-Up Eilidh Dunwoodie, Stanley Primary; Third Leesa Dunwoodie, Stanley Primary; Fourth Caitlin Nimmo, Garnock Valley P&D.

UNDER 14 GOOSE – Winner Kyle Wallis, North Ayrshire P&D Academy.
