A CAMPAIGN to tackle violence against women was launched last week in Ayrshire bookies with the full backing from local politicians.
Betting shop staff from bookmakers William Hill and Ladbrokes Coral will take part in the week long campaign in support of White Ribbon Scotland, a charity which campaigns with men to end gender based violence.
Shops in Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Cumnock, Girvan and Maybole will take part in the campaign which will ask punters to sign the White Ribbon Scotland pledge to “never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women in all its forms.”
Bill Grant MP who fully supports the campaign, said: “That anyone is still subjected to the physical and emotional harm such violence causes is shameful but the White Ribbon campaign is working hard to end that.”
