Two men have been arrested after a fatal road crash took two lives at the weekend.

A man aged 37 and another aged 45 were arrested following the fatal crash in near the Barony A Frame, Auchinleck at around 4.05pm on Saturday afternoon.

Both men have since been released as police continue inquiries.

After the crash the driver of the VW Golf, Kevin Hall, 54, from Ochiltree and his passenger, Douglas Murray, 37, from Auchinleck, died at the scene.

A white Volkswagen Golf and a white Volkswagen Scirocco collided westbound on the B7036/Barony Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two men aged 37 and 45 were arrested in connection with the incident.

"Both men have been released pending further inquiries.

"Road policing officers are continuing their inquiries to establish the circumstances."

Sergeant Kevin Blackley of Ayrshire's Road Policing Unit said: "Two men have lost their lives as a result of this crash and enquiries are ongoing.

"We are urging anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision, or who witnessed the crash, to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are especially interested in speaking to motorists who may have dashcam footage of either vehicles in the Auchinleck area or footage following the crash that could help us with our investigation.”
