SELFISH fly tippers are being warned they could face jail after dumping rubbish near the Barony A-Frame in Auchinleck.

The mindless yobs who recently chucked the trash could face a fine of up to £40,000.

Now local clean up groups are urging residents to be respectful and not to dump in their community.

East Ayrshire Corporate Enforcement said: "Officers from East Ayrshire Council have been continuing with the Scottish Partnership Against Rural Crime (SPARC) Week of Action.

"This morning officers were responding to reports of fly tipping from Kilmarnock to Cumnock, like here close the Barony A-Frame in Auchinleck.

"Fly Tipping is a criminal offence and offenders face fines of up to £40,000 or even a custodial sentence imposed at Court.

"All this week our officers and partners at Police Scotland have been engaged in our rural communities to raise awareness of environmental and rural crime."
