PUPILS in Cumnock enjoyed a new breakfast club to kick start their day.

Netherthird Primary School students headed to the community centre to make sure they didn’t begin their day hungry.

Special guests Linda McAulay-Griffiths, Head of Education at East Ayrshire Council, and John Giddings from Shire Housing visited pupils during breakfast time to hear all about the new venture.

The Breakfast Club is an integral part of the school’s plan to reduce the poverty related attainment gap and staff are delighted that Netherthird Primary can offer pupils a free breakfast five days a week.

Head teacher, Miss Jemma Donnelly, expressed her thanks to Mrs McAulay-Griffiths and Mr Giddings for their support in setting up the Breakfast Club and wishes to convey thanks to the Community Centre’s Sylvia Reid, Margaret Campbell and Lana Donald as well as the school Parent Council.

Thanks must also go to Francene Robertson’s ‘Quest for Wellbeing’ and Cash for Kids who donated breakfast supplies for the children.
