A CAMPAIGN has been launched urging parents to spare their children from becoming seriously ill this winter.

It comes as every year in NHS Ayrshire & Arran children are hospitalised for flu.

Now the Scottish Government’s national flu vaccination programme, with a focus on people with health conditions and children aged two to five, five to 11-year-olds will be vaccinated at schools across NHS Ayrshire and Arran during the autumn term.

The flu vaccination will also be offered to all pregnant women at the 12 week scan in community locations around Ayrshire as well as being offered at the 20 week foetal anomaly scan undertaken at Ayrshire Maternity Unit.

The consequences of developing flu in pregnancy can be severe.
