Lee Clark has spoken to Partick Thistle about the vacant manager's position at Firhill.
The former Newcastle and Fulham midfielder saved Kilmarnock from relegation in 2016 .
Clark guided the Ayrshire club to sixth in the table and cleared the decks, bringing in a raft of signings from England including Rangers winger Jordan Jones and £1m asset Souleymane Coulibaly for free while releasing a huge chunk of the playoff survival squad.
The 46-year-old quit the SPFL to take over at Bury in February 2017 but his stay at the English club came to an end in October of the same year.
Clark, currently in charge of Blyth Spartans in the sixth tier of English football, has since admitted he left the Ayrshire side too quickly and has previously been linked with Hibernian following Neil Lennon’s departure.
However it’s understood the former Huddersfield, Birmingham and Blackpool manager would be very interested in taking over at Firhill and contact has been made while Thistle draw up a shortlist of candidates to replace Gary Caldwell as manager of the Championship outfit.
Caldwell was sacked after a poor start to the campaign compounded the frustration of last season’s disappointment for the Jags.
Thistle fans hoped to see their club bounce back from relegation but finished a dismal 28 points off eventual champions, Ross County.
