AN irate parent has blasted a teacher at a Kilbirnie school for parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge.
The father, who has asked not to be named, says the teacher at Moorpark Primary was repeatedly parking in the only disabled bay, meaning disabled people like him, can’t park safely.
He said: “This teacher does not have a disabled badge yet she parks there all the time. I am disabled and it is very difficult getting my kids dropped off at school when I can’t use that space.
“There is also children who have mobility problems and their parents need to use that space and she still parks there.
“One time I parked in the space to drop my daughter off and she actually came and banged on my window and told me to move my car saying I had parked in ‘her space’. I couldn’t believe it. She didn’t even have a disabled badge on display and when I told her that she just said it was in the post.”
The father says he has raised the issue with the school and been told there is nothing they can do.
He added: “I mean it is appalling. What kind of example is that to set to kids that one person in the school can ignore the rules? Just because she is a teacher doesn’t mean she can do what she likes. It’s disgraceful. She is being totally selfish.”
Education bosses refused to confirm whether the man’s claims were true, but they did confirm to the Herald that the situation has now been “resolved”.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “This situation has now been resolved and only cars displaying a blue badge will be allowed to park in the disabled space.”
