A NEW bridge has been built next to the new Cumnock super school Barony Campus.

Crossing over the River Ayr, the bridge has been put in place to replace the old one which has been deemed “no longer fit for purpose”.

The bridge will link the old Cumnock Academy site to the new super campus expected to be completed in 2020, two new grass pitches and the existing synthetic pitch will sit at the old school.

A spokesperson for East Ayrshire Council told the Chronicle: “The existing bridge was replaced with the new one as it was no longer fit for purpose.

“The bridge was installed this summer to ensure that it was in place ahead of the new campus parking/drop-off arrangements being completed in 2020.”
