AUCHINLECK Talbot football park is one step closer to finally getting flood lights.

The team have been presented over a four figure sum of cash for their Scottish Junior Cup win earlier this year.

East Ayrshire Council awarded the team with a cheque for £1,000 for the club to congratulate them on the brilliant win.

The money will be used by the Beechwood Regeneration Committee to help with costs for floodlights.

The local football park has been desperate for new lights and have been raising cash to buy them,

We recently told you how life long football fan John Davidson, 35, launched a song to help get the club flood lights.

The anthem ‘Flood Lit’, which is about the club and local community, hoped to shed light on Beechwood Park.

The club said: “Local band John & The Hormones donated £300 to the floodlight venture thanks to the money raised on certain music channels with their Talbot anthem ‘Floodlit’. Provost Jim Todd made a donation on behalf East Ayrshire Council towards the Beechwood Regeneration Committee who are driving the Club’s Floodlighting Project.

“This is very much appreciated by all at Beechwood Park.”
