Cumnock Residents will have a chance to have their say on the proposed plans for a new energy project aimed at revolutionising renewable energy within the community.

The National Energy Research Demonstrator Project (NERD) will focus on Cumnock as an area of research and innovation, with the purpose to look at how renewable energy supplies are generated, stored and used by communities.

This comes after an £17million pound investment from the UK Government, and a collaboration from East Ayrshire Council which contributed another £7.5 million towards it.

East Ayrshire Council will be holding a public information event on Monday, August 12 at the Cumnock Town Hall with two different sessions.

The first session will run from 3pm to 4.30pm and then later in the evening from 7pm to 8.30pm.

It is a chance for those in the community to express their views on the proposal being put forward for the NERD project.

The event will be jointly hosted by Strathclyde University and East Ayrshire Council, who will be giving presentations on proposals to those in attendance.
