CUMNOCK’s ladies were the cream of Scotland last week after they picked up the Over 55s Rinks Championship at Northfield.
The team of Heather Kay (skip), Jean Sykes (lead), Margaret Bingham (second), and Linda Bryce (third) beat Denny Bowling Club 12-9 in the final after a fine run in the the district - and some hard fought wins through the early rounds of the Scottish.
The team will now compete at the British Isles Championships in Leamington Spa next season, representing Scotland.
Skip Heather told the Chronicle: “We beat Denny 12-9 in the final and it was a very good game, a very close game.
“Everyone played well and worked as a team.
“It feels wonderful. It’s something a bowler strives to get to [the championships] so it’s a wonderful feeling.
“This is the third time Cumnock has had anybody at the British Isles, but that was years ago.
“This is the first time in years.
“It’s quite hard to get there.”
