A local veterinary is urging pet owners to make sure the details on their furry friends’ microchips are up to date.

MBM Vets Mauchline shared the message on their social media, shortly after receiving a British Veterinary Association poster about microchipping

A spokesperson for the vets said: “We've had a spate of stray pets recently who have had microchips, but the owner contact details weren't up to date. And by coincidence this poster has just arrived from the BVA.

“Please take a minute or two to log in to your pet's chip database and make sure your name, address and contact phone numbers are all up to date. It only takes a couple of minutes to check – and could save your pet hours, days, weeks or months of fear and uncertainty if they get lost or stolen.

“If you are not sure how to do this, talk to our lovely reception team for advice.”
