Ardrossan Girls Brigade raised £200 for the Harbour Centre with their Summer Bazaar, which saw an impromptu performance by Ayrshire singing sensation Murray Gee Mac.

The fundraiser at Park Church was organised by Girls Brigade members Tegan and Naomi Myers, both 16, and Bethany Maguire, 14.

Members of the community browsed over 20 craft and car-boot stalls while enjoying a variety of entertainment. Guest of honour, Murray, officially opened the event and later treated visitors to a snap rendition of his famous Harris McCoo song. There was also a performance from Reece O’Hanlon, North Ayrshire Traditional Young Musician of the Year.

Leader Linda Morrison said: “It was really good, a brilliant day. The sun shone for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was the girls’ idea. They decided they wanted to support the Harbour Centre in Ardrossan. We thought maybe we would raise about £50 but it was a much bigger event. We didn’t expect it to be as big as it was. Well done to the girls.

“Murray was really well into it, I have to say. I think he was thrilled to be asked. He was a fantastic master of ceremony and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it.”
