THE body of missing man Henry Boyd has been found in a river.

The 48-year old Henry, known locally has Harry, vanished from Auchinleck at 9pm on Wednesday, sparking a frantic search to find him.

But yesterday at around 2.20pm his body was pulled from the River Lugar near to Cumnock.

After Harry disappeared police said it was unlike him to go missing which deeply concerned his family.

They have been made aware of the tragic discovery.

A post mortem examination will take place but police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 2.20 pm on Monday 10 June 2019, the body of Henry (Harry) Boyd (48) who had been missing from Auchinleck was recovered from the River Lugar near to Cumnock.

"A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death however police are not treating the death as suspicious.

"Relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
