AN UPCOMING music artist has been signed by a record label set up by students at Ayrshire College.

The talented Sound Production students snapped up psych-rock musician Gerald James, aka JOG, who also attends the Ayrshire College campus, to their Sun Turtle Records label - which was set up as an ambitious challenge on the course.

They were also tasked with running a PRcompany, High Tide PR, from the college.

Musician Gerald has seen his aspirations reach new heights thanks to the local record label as last week he featured on BBC Radio Scotland on the Roddy Hart show.

Gerald told the Chronicle: “Working with STR has been a really positive experience.

The label has given me the opportunity to get serious about my music and I appreciate that. I had a great time at the launch night and I’m looking forward to future gigs.”

Sun Turtle Records was created to give Ayrshire musicians an opportunity to record and release original music and give students experience of the music industry.

Every instrument is performed by JOG, and the EP recorded in Rockpool Studios, by lecturer David McAulay.
