LOCALS donned their capes and masks last week as Comic Con was held in Ayr.

Now in its second year, the event held at the Citadel was a great success with plenty of new attractions for all ages to enjoy.

The star feature was undoubtedly the DeLorean car from 80s blockbuster movie Back to the Future where fans got the chance to sit in Doc Brown’s timetravelling brief.

Over 50 traders, cosplayers, comic art classes and a host of special guests took over the leisure centre on Saturday, May 11. Special guests included Gary Erskine who has drawn for Marvel, DC 2000ad and many more.

The event also featured a Hollywood green screen to secure a perfect blockbuster photo, Nerf 10 NEWS www.ayradvertiser.com www.troontimes.com www.carrickherald.com Tuesday May 21, 2019 range, Design your own Character workshop, quizzes and superhero face painting.

Event organiser Ian Bonar told the Ayr Advertiser: “Ayr went fantastic for us this year so we’re already discussing 2020 with The Citadel which we hope to announce soon.”

Ian was chuffed with the success of the event held in Ayr saying the Delorean was loved and the town’s atmosphere will take some beating.

He added: “Attendees loved the cosplayers as they always do and were queuing up to have their picture taken with The Delorean and Iron Man car. We still have one more date in Ayrshire which will be Kilmarnock’s Grand Hall which we think will be hard pressed to beat the atmosphere we had at Ayr.”
