A DEMENTIA friendly store in Ayr is warning people not to let their hearing put them at risk.
To coincide with Dementia Action Week, which is running all of this week from Monday May 20 until Sunday May 26, Specsavers Ayr is helping to raise awareness of the importance of getting your hearing checked after it was discovered hearing loss can be linked to the condition.
The store has several qualified Dementia Friends among its team, who have completed a training course to professionally care for the eye health and hear care of customers suffering from dementia.
Linda Fulton, store director at the shop, said: “It takes on average ten years for someone to seek help for hearing loss.
“Having your hearing tested could be a simple step to ensure you are taking care of your ear health and in turn, reduce your chance of developing dementia.”
