A LIFE LONG Auchinleck Talbot fan is launching a song to help get the club flood lights.

John Davidson, 35, from Auchinleck is hoping his new song ‘Flood Lit’, which is about the club and local community, will help shed light on Beechwood Park .

It comes after the club encouraged his dream of being a musician when he was younger by offering him and bandmates a free rehearsal space.

Now he wants to give back to the club so they can have a new lighting system.

The full time hospital worker has been working around the clock to produce the song which will be released Sunday, May 26.

John said: “The football club got in touch with me to ask if I would reunite my old band the Ghosties.

“Because of other commitments that was a bit impossible but I have been a lifelong fan of the club and have started some solo stuff so I knew I wanted to do something for them.

“I work in Cumnock hospital and had put my passion for music on the back burner a bit but this has definitely got me really excited about it again.

“It was really nice getting the call and I wanted to help them get the flood lights .

“The song I recorded is all about the community and the club, it’s really good I think and hopefully can help raise some money for the stadium.

“We are working on a music video the now as well which is really exciting.

“My family has had a life long as sociation with the club.

“My dad was the match program editor and club historian so he did loads with them.

“For me personally Auchinleck Talbot have always supported my music, they even gave me and my old band a space to practise for absolutely free which let us really work on our stuff.

“This is just a wee gesture to say thank you for everything they have done for me and my family, I want to give back an d it is a really good feeling.

“It has taken a bit of work on top of working full time but I really think it has all bee n worth it.

“I have also really enjoyed getting my friends on board as well and making the record together.

“Currently they don’t have a floodlight system installed but it has been talked about a lot.

"Hopefully now it can start to come together.

“They had an appeal going a wee while ago after their Ayr victory and raised a bit from that but now we need to make up the rest.

“The club themselves have poured a lot of money into the project but it is about £70,000 for the lights so every little helps .

“So if I can play my part and help them out that would be really brilliant."

Auchinleck Talbot said they were delighted at th  news of John’s song.

A club statement said: “We are delighted to announce that there will be a new, professionally produced Talbot song in time for the cup final, from the musical brilliance of John and the Hormones ‘Flood Lit’.

“Due for worldwide release on Sunday, May 26 along with a music video; to say we are excited is an understatement."
