Major building work, which includes the construction of 17 supported residential homes, got underway at a Stevenston care complex last week (Tuesday, May 14).

The Richmond Fellowship, Scotland’s largest social care and support provider, is carrying out modernisation and improvement works across its 105-acre Todhill Farm site.

Todhill Farm is a long-established social care complex operated by the Richmond Fellowship, and provides residential accommodation, training and employment to adult males with long-term limiting conditions or support needs.

The site is currently home to the charity’s day centre service where supported individuals can engage in a range of vocational and fun activities including horticulture, arts and crafts and animal husbandry.

The development represents a significant stage in improving the living conditions for the existing residents by providing 17 new purposely designed individual flats within a contemporary cluster of buildings around a courtyard. These will replace the existing accommodation within Todhill.

Austen Smyth, Richmond Fellowship Scotland chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to be making this investment in Todhill and more importantly in the lives of the people who live and are supported here.

“This is the first phase of an ambitious master plan that will see Todhill transformed and the full potential of the surrounding natural environment unlocked.

“Todhill is a real local asset and we’re excited by the opportunities that lie ahead to strengthen our links within the community.”
