A SELFESS fitness group are celebrating after raising awareness of mental health support in their community.

J’S Fitness hosted a major charity event to raise funds for two mental health charities SAMH and Release Ayrshire.

It comes after suicides more than doubled in East Ayrshire last year.

They enjoyed a volleyball tournament during the day then a disco party in the evening with auctions and a buffet.

The big-hearted organisers even dug deep into their own pockets to make sure the event want a hit.

The aim of the event was to show locals it is important to be healthy not just physically but also mentally. They raised well over £1600 and had a blast while doing it.

Co-Owner of JS Fittness, Jamie, said: “We wanted to do something after a spike in incidents like suicide happening in our area and we want to do something to help.
