SORN Primary School were getting close to nature this week with the arrival of lots of eggs ready for hatching.

Youngsters were taking part in the ‘living eggs’ programme which allows them to care for the eggs, watch them hatch and then hold the fluffy chicks.

Cumnock Chronicle:

P5 pupil, Alex Green who took the chicks home for the weekend said: “We cared for them and could see them getting stronger and bigger each day.”

The chicks will be rehomed safely.

Children in primaries 1,2,and 3 also learned how to make apple juice using an old fashioned apple press. The children had great fun pushing their apples in and then watching the juice coming out.

The school were keen to thank Dean Castle for leading the activity.
