TOURS are now being launched to unveil a sneak peak of Dean Castle which is being restored by HAND to save the historic building.

East Ayrshire Leisure staff went on a trial run of the tour, which will take members of the public to areas of the Castle which are not normally accessible to the public, including the battlements.

Stonemasons are currently at work in this area removing cement mortar from the pointing - this will be replaced in time by lime mortar which is more suitable fo r historic buildings.

No power tools are allowed to be used making the project a difficult and time consuming task.

Participants will meet at the Visitor Centre in the Country Park to hear about the history of the Castle before joining CBC Stone’ s Project Manager for a tour of the restorations.
