VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with a wildlife survey in the peatlands of Sorn next month.
East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative (CEI) is carrying out a Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) in the Muirkirk and North Lowther Special Protection area on Thursday, May 16 from 8.45am-12.30pm.
CEI staff and volunteers will head out across the peatland habitat to record breeding bird activity before returning to ‘base camp’ to have a go at territory mapping.
A good level of fitness is required. Please bring wellies or walking boots/ gators, waterproofs, something warm, a packed lunch and a drink and binoculars if you have them.
