A BRAVE Cumnock schoolboy is now preparing to complete a major stadium marathon to let Scots know it’s important to talk about your mental health.
Lochlan Murdoch,10, was invited to attend training with local teams to help train for the 28 mile walk around Scotland’s biggest football pitches.
It comes after the ten year-old struggled with his own mental health after losing all his confidence due to a football injury.
He broke his leg, putting him on the sidelines, and was unable to join in with school friends at football which left him feeling really isolated and lonely.
Lochlan suffered a huge shift in his personality and had a breakdown as he confessed to his parents how he had been struggling with his mental health.
But his mum Lesley Murdoch, 38, said she ‘got her son back’ after the nine-year-old finally opened up about how bad he had been feeling.
Lochlan was also invited to attend training with Auchinleck Talbot and Glenafton Football club.
He said: “When I broke my leg I got very sad and felt left out and really Lochlan wants others to know its okay not to be okay and is raising money for Kris Boyd’s charity and JDRF as he suffers from type 1 diabetes.
"He plans on walking around stadiums in Cumnock, Aberdeen, Dundee, Livingston, alone. I lost my confidence.
"I stopped going to watch training and games because I felt so sad at not being able to take part.
"Once I told my mum how I was feeling she got me some help and I’m starting to feel a bit better.”
