CHILDREN across Cumnock and Doon Valley have been celebrating world book day by dressing up as their favourite characters.

Youngsters headed to class in different costumes that represent one of their favourite books.

We asked you to help us join in the fun by sending us pictures of your little ones (Including their name, age and who they are dressed as) on Facebook.

They pulled out all the stocks with their fancy dress ideas really bringing the stories to life. There were princesses, puppies, teddy bears, and lions all roaming around classrooms learning the importance of literature.

The scheme hopes to inspire youngsters into reading more books and engage with stories. If you want to see more adorable faces celebrating world book day head over to our social media pages and send us some in and your child may feature in the Chronicle in the coming weeks.
