A DAD is encouraging other men to be more open about their mental health.

Andrew Greer who lives in Cumnock is speaking out raise money to help local people get better support.

The 29-year-old is taking part in a massive obstacle course with his friends in a bid to show how mental health links to your physical health, and how exercise can help.

Joining him on the course are pals Grant Donnelly, Ian Black, John Stirling, and Shaun Johnstone who also want to raise awareness.

Andrew said: “Growing up you are always told boys don’t cry and to man up but now I want to break that stigma and show men it’s okay to talk about your feelings, it can actually really help.

“We want to stop that and get more people talking by raising money and awareness and encourage especially men to talk out about their mental health life a bit better for them by raising money for a mental health foundation.

Cumnock Chronicle:

“We will be running Tough Mudder at Drumlanrig Castle on June 16 2019. We are going to do a ten mile obstacle course.

“There is 25 obstacles in problems.

“I definitely think it is something that needs to be talked about a lot more right now it’s a bit of a hidden health condition.

“The course is not gonna be easy so thought might as well make someone’s else it you don’t have to do all of them but we are going to try and finish it. We are all different levels of fitness so we will do it as a team and help each other through.”

All money raised will go to The Mental Health Foundation.
