RESIDENTS are being encouraged to host a golfing event to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
The Par for Parkinson’s fundraiser is asking the community to organise a golf competition, take on a Three Course Challenge, or hold a golf quiz night, to help the national charity.
Events can be held through work, friends, or your local golf club.
It comes after figures revealed that residents in Cumnock and Doon Valley who suffer from Parkinson’s disease face major issues in accessing the care.
Parkinson’s UK claimed the local health board is struggling to care for patients causing delays in diagnosis and problems with ongoing support.
They criticised the lack of specialist nurses available in the area and long waiting times for patients.
