A MAN who terrified two girlfriends by his angry behaviour has been jailed for four years and branded a danger to the public by a judge.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Roy Brown, 28, shouted and swore at his victims and punched and slammed doors.

He also threw household items about and damaged them, kicked furniture and smashed a mobile phone.

On one occasion Brown grabbed one of his victims and dragged her along the ground and threatened her with violence.

The offences took place at various addresses in Cumnock, between May, 2011 and August, 2017.

Brown did this despite having taken part in 2016 in a programme designed to prevent domestic abuse.

Judge Lady Stacey ordered Brown, who has previous convictions for domestic abuse, to be monitored in the

Cumnock man jailed over domestic abuse community for a year after his release from jail.

She told him: “It seems to me the social worker who compiled a background report on you is correct when he says you present a danger to the public.

“Your record, which is atrocious, shows your behaviour is entrenched.

"You went on a programme in 2016, but that didn’t prevent you committing offences.”

Brown was cleared at trial of raping the two women, but was found guilty of placing them in a state of fear and alarm by his violent behaviour and assaulting one of them.

Defence QC John Scullion said: “During his trial the accused admitted the charges he was convicted of.

He denied the rapes and was cleared of those charges.”

Brown showed no emotion as he was led away to begin his sentence.
