POLICE have issued a warning to drivers after an alleged thief was apprehended in Ochiltree in the early hours of Sunday, February 3.
In two separate incidents, a three-figure sum of property was allegedly stolen from cars in the Main Street area of the village at around 12.30am on February 3 and between 11pm and 4.45am on Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31.
A 41-year-old man, believed to be from the local area, was arrested and detained by police.
He is also alleged to have been in possession of a class B drug on February 3. Police in East Ayrshire are reminding drivers to be careful.
Safer Communities Officer, Craig Marshall, said: “We are telling drivers to always make sure their vehicle is locked. Do not keep valuable items in the car when parked.”
