Pupils from Sanquhar Academy visited an Ayrshire estate with royal links to engage in a project that encourages youngsters to embrace traditional skills in a bid to breathe fresh talent into Scotland’s fashion and textiles industry. Students from the school were among the latest to be given the opportunity to learn sewing skills from experts at Dumfries House. Thousands of pupils from across Scotland have engaged in Future Textiles in the Palladian country house’s attic workshop since the programme’s foundation in October 2014.Seamus Coleman, teacher of art and design at Sanquhar Academy, led a group of third-year pupils on a workshop designed to improve their skills.
