A SALTCOATS care home which closed just before Christmas is up for sale — and it can be yours for £2.75million.

The building, which was home to Seabank Care Home until it closed amid financial irregularities, boasts a site of 1.2 acres.

Built in 2011, the new

facility was built to replace the ageing structure which stood at the front of the grounds, where the current car park is.

A total of 89 jobs were lost when the closure was announced with full-time, part-time and bank staff made redundant in a saga which saw some staff fail to receive wages.

The local council also had to step in to help care for residents before they were moved to different care facilities across North Ayrshire.

There was previously planning permission for 18 flats within the car park and the home itself can hold up to 60 residents and is described as “purpose-built” with the accommodation provided over three floors.

There is a lift to the upper floors and all bedrooms are single occupancy and boast en-suite wet-floor showers.

Lounge and dining areas are provided on the ground and first floors with small kitchens to prepare basic snacks and drinks.

There are also assisted bathing facilities, a hairdressing salon and two small quiet rooms.’

The advert for the site says: “Given the compliance of the home, an incoming operator should not have difficulty re-registering with the Care Inspectorate.

“The property was closed voluntarily by the operators in November, 2018, despite having a mature occupancy and full staffing complement.

“It is anticipated a new provider would have very few environmental challenges

re-registering and reopening the service.

“The opportunity also exists to utilise the rest of the site for further care or

alternative use.”
