THE 14th Cumnock Highland Games will return to the Woodroad Park on Sunday, August 18.
The positive responses received by the organising committee to using the venue last year has persuaded them to make it the games’ permanent home.
Entry to the games will be free and donation buckets will be placed throughout the park to help meet the cost.
Organising committee chairman Rev John Paterson said: “It is still early days but already the organising committee are hard at work looking at ways of making the games bigger and better than ever. As an immediate priority we are exploring sources of funding and sponsorship as well as developing a number of exciting new ideas.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank William Salmond, who decided to step down as chairman of the organising committee after last year’s games. As one of the founding members of the Cumnock Highland Games’ Committee he has worked tirelessly over the years to help establish an annual event that is enjoyed by many people, both locally and from further afield. We all wish him a happy and healthy retirement.”
The games are organised by local volunteers. Anyone interested in helping can contact berrman27@outlook.com
