A SILVER Audi was stolen from a property on Mansfield Heights, New Cumnock on Saturday, January 5.

The car thief forced entry to the property at some point between 8pm and 8.30pm when he stole the keys and made off with the Audi A6.

Police are appealing for information in relation to the theft as the car has not yet be recovered.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Between 8pm and 8.30pm on January 5, a silver Audi A6 was stolen from a property on Mansfield Heights, New Cumnock.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC McClung at Cumnock on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 3889 of January 5."

In response to the incident, police have also issued advice to the public to help prevent similar thefts.

Safer communities officer PC Craig Marshall said: "We would advise everyone to lock and secure their property when going out.

"Do not leave keys visible from windows or doors and if you see someone acting suspiciously, contact the police."
