YOUNG people braved the cold at Dumfries House to bury a time capsule filled with memories and images.
The items were in relation to the the last 12 months of activities which marked The Year of Young People, a Scotland-wide celebration.
Among the items which encapsulated the busy year were details of a successful Colour Run and a sitting of the Scottish Youth Parliament in Kilmarnock.
Other notable memorabilia included a report on the first annual hearing of East Ayrshire Children and Young People’s Cabinet.
It was buried in the grounds of Dumfries House Estate,with several guests looking on, and will be dug up in 50 years’ time.
Depute Provost Claire Leitch, who is also Children’s Champion, said: “2018 has been a fantastic year in which our young people have really had a chance to shine.
"My thanks go to everyone who has been involved, especially the Steering Group of Young People’s Cabinet Members for all of the excellent work they have done to help make the voices of children and young people be heard more clearly in East Ayrshire.
"We look forward to continuing the legacy of Year of Young People and to building on the positive work that our young people have achieved this year.”
