POLICE are on the hunt for an arsonists after a deliberate fire at Thistle Business Park in Cumnock on November 25.

A man broke into a premises at some point between 2.50am and 4am before proceeding to set fire to toilet, causing extensive damage.

He is described as wearing a dark coloured top, light coloured jogging bottoms and white trainers.

Firefighters from Cumnock responded to the incident and were able to extinguish the fire.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Group Manager Alan Coughtrie said: “Every deliberate fire has victims, costs and consequences, fire setting is an offence, don’t accept it, report it. Every week, over 300 fires are deliberately started in Scotland, these fires blight our neighbourhoods, damage the environment and can sometimes cause injury or even death.

“Anyone who deliberately sets a fire needs to ask themselves how they would feel if someone, potentially their own family, were injured or even worse, killed, because firefighters sent to a deliberate incident couldn’t get to an emergency in time to save them.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Thomson at Cumnock Police Station on 101 and quote incident number 1050 of November 25 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
